  • Use drawers to store small light items.
  • Use appliances such as washers, dryers, freezers to store items.
  • Store sofas on their side
  • Remove legs from tables
  • Use uniform size boxes for effective stacking
  • Label boxes on all sides
  • For easy access, allow for a path and put most needed items in the front

How to safeguard your valuables

  • Use pallets or wood slats to keep air circulating and prevent possible moisture seeping up from the concrete.
  • Cover upholstery and mattresses with fabric only. Plastic tends to collect moisture.
  • Allow space between the wall and items for ventilation.
  • Store treasures in the back of the unit.
  • Store mirrors and pictures upright.
  • Store mattresses flat to prevent losing their shape.
  • Store clean refrigerators and freezers in an upright position with door ajar for ventilation.

No-Nos

  • No food items in unit. (Attracts rodents & insects)
  • No combustible items for safety reasons.
  • Drain all gas powered equipment for long term storage.
